Dr Nicole Sly
FACSEP MBBS BPhty

Dr Nicole Sly is a dual-qualified Sport and Exercise Physician and Physiotherapist committed to achieving superior health and performance outcomes for athletes across the lifespan.

Having supported elite teams and high performers including the Australian Women’s Cricket Team, the Wallaroos, Winter and Summer Olympians, professional dancers and performing artists. Dr Nicole’s practice is built on the belief that every patient deserves access to the same rigorous, evidence-based standards as the elite.

Dr Nicole is a recognized leader in female and adolescent athlete health. In 2023, she founded the specialized Sports Medicine Clinic at Pymble Ladies’ College (an Australian Olympic Pathway School). This experience honed her focus on the unique physiological and developmental needs of young high-performers, building on years of field-side coverage of senior school Rugby Union (Joeys, Shore, Newington) and practicing at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead Institute of Sports Medicine (CHISM) and RNSH Paediatric Emergency.

Today, she continues to work closely with medical and allied health team members to deliver individual athlete health assessments and recovery pathways, ensuring athletes return to sport with their long-term health also front of mind.

Dr Nicole is thorough and holistic in her approach, taking the time to understand each patient’s lifestyle and goals to tailor a plan for the individual.

"Health and performance is the result of a strong foundation. At the core of my practice is a commitment to specialist care that goes beyond the immediate injury. I work with every individual to build resilient, sustainable, and active pathways for long-term success."

Beyond her clinical practice, as the former Chair of the ACSEP Women in Sport and Exercise Medicine Advisory Group (2023–2025), she led initiatives to increase female leadership visibility and foster gender equity among Sport and Exercise Medicine trainees and physicians. Her work focuses on supporting the next generation of doctors and to create diverse, sustainable professional environments that better serve the evolving needs of the community.

Dr Nicole co-founded Perform Wellbeing to translate elite expertise into actionable health strategies for developing athletes and their support networks. This expert team brings tailored solutions directly to schools and community groups, empowering athletes to understand their body, mind and what it takes to reach new heights.

With published research in the field of Injury Prevention Exercise Programmes in Youth Rugby Union, she is a firm believer in supporting every body to be more resilient and capable.
